Dallas Blooms

One of Josh's passions (if you don't already know this) is landscaping, so we became members of the Dallas Arboretum last year so we could get some ideas for our yard and just enjoy nature. On Saturday afternoon, we went to see Dallas Blooms, which features more than 400,000 spring-blooming bulbs, over 3,000 azaleas, and thousands of another annuals and perennials spread throughout the 66-acre garden. We HIGHLY recommend you make it there!

These are real.

The flower-filled Star of Texas.

I'll take your picture if you take mine.

A little taste of modern architecture.

A Womack Family Tradition

For many years now, our loving daughter has wished for and received a hamburger on her Birthday (March 28), and this year (her 9th Birthday) was no exception. This year it was a Wendy's Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, plain and dry of course.

After coming home from dinner ourselves, we found her a little tipsy...Dixie and Duckey (seen here) appear to have found the liquor store while we were out.

Daddy, Dixie and the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger.

Dixie asking Daddy why he is making her wait soooo long before she can have her birthday present.

And its gone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIXIE!!!

Leifeste Pups

So I have to say when Josh and I first heard our "teammates," Gretchen and Aaron, were getting a puppy, we were shocked. But when Gretchen called Jamie to ask if she was crazy for wanting a second puppy, Jamie's jaw hit the floor. "Gretchen with 2 puppies and Jamie with only 1?" That would never happen since Gretchen had never had a dog in her 25 years of life. But you can't resist that little lab puppy face, so the Leifeste's are now the proud owners of TWO Chocolate Lab puppies. So here's to you teammates...I had to brag on Harley and Layla.

This is their "We can't resist her" purchase, Layla.

Had to save the best for last. I think Layla is confused about something.

Fence - Part I

"IT" is finally here, the long awaited fence! Granted, I have only finished about 1/2 of this side of the yard, but still, we are at a point where we can now let Dixie outside without watching her!! Yeaaa, that is one minor victory! We are both VERY happy with the results...what started as an idea in Josh's head has turned out almost as good in reality. Jamie did a great job as a foreman and sweet tea/Tang maker.

And for those you at home questioning the incredible design of this fence...we like the horizontal lines of the wider boards at the bottom, but we also like the "openness" that our yard has. We like for our neighbor, Tom (who we have affectionately named Peeping Tom) to be able to keep an eye on our place when we are not able to. So....to solve this problem, I built the top section of the fence out of thinner boards spaced farther apart, creating a very unobstructive view into our backyard.

It's Me, Dixie

Hey guys, its me Dixie! If mommy and daddy can post to this thing, then so can I! I have been very active outside recently. I got to play in the snow last week, which was fun...oh how I miss the cold waters when daddy once took me duck hunting so often. Speaking of that, sometimes I like to just sit on the deck and watch the ducks (daddy says they are just crows and bluejays) fly by. I watch in anticipation for one to fall, but for some reason they never do?

Anyhow...concerning my backyard, I also got to watch some men take down a really big hackberry tree back there. It took about six of them three hours to chop it down, but now the backyard looks so much brighter...daddy says now our pecan tree can grow bigger because that hackberry is not in the way.

Oh wait....there goes a grasshopper, gotta get it!!

My Husband

I just had to brag on my husband! He has been a work horse since we moved in our house a year ago. Some things he has accomplished: redid all of the landscaping in the front yard (still working on it!), built a pond/sitting area in our backyard, installed landscape lighting, took off our shutters, replaced the posts on our front porch, replaced/installed all lighting and fixtures indoors and outdoors, currently building a fence for our backyard, planted and replanted trees, and wanting to plant and replant those same trees. These things just deserved a posting.

Blog?

Well, the time has come to join the blogging world (Dixie is ashamed that we are just now doing so). So...here is our first blog. We are tired now and going to bed, so goodnight! Our blog will have to grow slowly...tonight it begins!!
